Issues:

Economy
The NH State has done a credible job at reducing expenditures and the size of government. We must continue to monitor our state expenditure without burdening our citizens.

Social Services
The commission on Health Care Cost Containment has made a good start on understanding the impact of the federal health care reform. It is my intention to ensure that our social services and non-profits continue to receive adequate funding to maintain the high quality service that they deliver. I hope that my considerable experience in these areas will be utilized for positive improvements.

NH Youth
I will continue to work with and support those organizations who are helping to tackle homelessness, parental absence and addiction problems. I will strive to be a conduit that will allow their problems and possible solutions to be heard in the legislature.

Prison Service & Probation
The work I have done with the “newly released” may add support to the Criminal Justice Reinvestment Act. The states crime rate has remained low and stable however the people incarcerated has grown. The growth is directly attributed to parolees and probationers failing to meet conditions requiring them to seek treatment for substance abuse or mental illness. The new act should more fairly govern the actions of the newly released and the probationers and my continued interactions with this population may assist with monitoring the problem.
